Oranges pickled in liqueur

Spread the love

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 8 oranges
  • 200 g sugar, brown
  • 250 ml orange liqueur
  • 1 liter of water

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Rest time approx. 15 hours; Total time approx. 15 hours 45 minutes

Peel the oranges carefully, removing all the white (cut off the top and bottom, place on a board, and generously remove the peel). Then cut into thick, round slices. Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan and simmer uncovered until about half the amount remains. Remove the pan from the heat and let cool. Stir in the liqueur. Then add the orange slices. It’s best to refrigerate overnight. You can add another shot of liqueur before serving. I like to serve it with vanilla ice cream.
