Ingredients
Chopping rolls
- 600 g Ground beef
- 1 Onion
- 1 Old Bun
- 1 tbsp Roasted pine nuts
- 1 tbsp Low fat quark
- 1 Egg
- Salt
- Pepper from the grinder
- 1 pinch Cinammon
- 1 tsp Ground cumin
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
Tomato and Date Sauce
- 850 ml Canned tomatoes
- 1 Onion
- 2 Garlic cloves
- 100 g Dates dried sot
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper from the grinder
- Sugar
- 1 tbsp Tomato paste
Instructions
Chopping rolls
- Soak the rolls in cold water. Peel and finely dice the onion. Roast pine nuts and finely chop them. Squeeze out the rolls and knead with the mince, onions, pine nuts, egg and quark. Season with cinnamon, cumin, salt and approx. 1 teaspoon pepper. Shape it into chopping rolls. Grill on the hot grill or fry in portions in a pan in hot oil for 8-10 minutes.
Tomato and Date Sauce
- Peel the onion and garlic, dice both finely. Finely dice the dates. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a saucepan. Sauté the onions and garlic in it. Sweat the tomato paste briefly. Add the dates and tomatoes with their juice, chop the tomatoes. Season to taste with salt, pepper and sugar. Bring to the boil and simmer for 12–15 minutes. Briefly puree the tomato sauce with a hand blender.
Serving
- Either serve the meat rolls in the sauce. Serve with bread. Or serve the whole thing in flatbread. Also goes well with a buffet.
