Pancakes with maple syrup

Put the flour in a bowl. Add the maple syrup, salt, egg, and milk and mix with a hand mixer until a smooth batter forms. Then, cover and let it rest at room temperature for half an hour. Melt butter or margarine in a nonstick pan. Gradually add a ladleful of batter to the pan and cook over medium heat until golden brown on both sides. Drizzle the pancakes generously with maple syrup before serving. For variations, you can top the pancakes with pieces of butter, add cooked bacon, or mix blueberries into the batter (diced apples or nuts also work).
