Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 120 g bacon cubes
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 medium-sized bell peppers, red
  • 400 g Ajvar, hot and mild mixed
  • 250 g whipped cream
  • 120 ml water or milk
  • 200 g peas, frozen
  • Salt
  • 500 g pasta, any

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

with peppers and peas

Lightly fry the bacon cubes in a large non-stick pan, finely dice the onion and let it cook for a while. Cut the bell pepper into small cubes or strips and add to the pan with the crushed garlic and sauté for a few minutes. Add the ajvar (depending on how spicy you like it, use a mixed variety or just one type, but be careful with spicy ajvar – the spiciness varies greatly depending on the manufacturer!) and pour in the whipped cream and water (or milk if you prefer it more robust) and bring to a boil briefly. Stir in the frozen peas, let it simmer for just a short time depending on the variety, and season with salt. In the meantime, drain the pasta (cooked according to the instructions), drain well, toss with the sauce and season again if desired. Sprinkle with parsley or chives if desired and serve with a salad.
