delicious, homemade iced tea based on black tea
First, brew the tea. Let it steep a little longer than usual, depending on the desired strength. I use Darjeeling, which I usually steep for 2-3 minutes, but for iced tea, I use a good 10 minutes. Feel free to sweeten the hot tea; this will dissolve the sweetener more easily. I use 5-6 sweetener tablets, but the tea also tastes good with 3 teaspoons of sugar. The peach juice is sweet enough for my taste. Then let it cool thoroughly. Pour together the peach or orange juice and the cold tea (I use an empty 1.5-liter bottle; it’s easy to shake) and add a squeeze of lemon juice (homemade or store-bought). Simply stir or shake and taste. Add more lemon, juice, sweetener, or tea if you want the tea to be stronger or sweeter. A good alternative to the sugar water from carton drinks.
