Pear Helene – a simple recipe
The combination of cooked pear with cool vanilla ice cream and a creamy, warm chocolate sauce is delicious and easy to make. For four servings you need: 4 large pears, 500 milliliters of water, 200 milliliters of whipped cream (or a vegan cream substitute), 150 grams of chocolate, 100 grams of sugar, the juice of one lemon, a pinch of cinnamon, and two scoops of vanilla ice cream per serving (optionally lactose-free or vegan ice cream)
- First, squeeze out the lemon juice. Put this in a saucepan with the water, sugar, and pinch of cinnamon. Heat the whole thing up. Meanwhile, peel the pears. The stalk is left on.
- Once the liquid is simmering and the sugar has dissolved, add the pears to the saucepan. Cook them with a lid for about 17 minutes. Sprinkle the pears with the sugar solution from time to time so that they absorb it well.
- After that, let the pears cool completely. Meanwhile, take care of the chocolate sauce.
- Put the cream or cream substitute in a small saucepan. Heat them carefully. Once the cream is hot, remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the chocolate in small pieces until a creamy mass is formed.
- To serve, place one pear on each plate. Pour the homemade chocolate sauce over them. Top each with two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy your meal!
