Pear Helene – a simple recipe

The combination of cooked pear with cool vanilla ice cream and a creamy, warm chocolate sauce is delicious and easy to make. For four servings you need: 4 large pears, 500 milliliters of water, 200 milliliters of whipped cream (or a vegan cream substitute), 150 grams of chocolate, 100 grams of sugar, the juice of one lemon, a pinch of cinnamon, and two scoops of vanilla ice cream per serving (optionally lactose-free or vegan ice cream)

  1. First, squeeze out the lemon juice. Put this in a saucepan with the water, sugar, and pinch of cinnamon. Heat the whole thing up. Meanwhile, peel the pears. The stalk is left on.
  2. Once the liquid is simmering and the sugar has dissolved, add the pears to the saucepan. Cook them with a lid for about 17 minutes. Sprinkle the pears with the sugar solution from time to time so that they absorb it well.
  3. After that, let the pears cool completely. Meanwhile, take care of the chocolate sauce.
  4. Put the cream or cream substitute in a small saucepan. Heat them carefully. Once the cream is hot, remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the chocolate in small pieces until a creamy mass is formed.
  5. To serve, place one pear on each plate. Pour the homemade chocolate sauce over them. Top each with two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy your meal!
