Pears in coffee syrup

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 bulb(s)
  • ½ liter of coffee
  • 150 g sugar
  • 2 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 2 star anise
  • 2 carnations
  • 1 cm ginger, cut into julienne strips
  • ½ lemon(s), zest and juice

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 40 minutes

Dessert possibly with vanilla ice cream

Peel the pears and rub them with the juice of half a lemon. Bring the coffee, sugar, lemon zest, and spices to a boil. Add the pears and poach over low heat for 20 minutes, turning occasionally. Remove the pears from the liquid and simmer for about 10 minutes. Let everything cool. Serve one pear per person cold, drizzled with syrup. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.
