This is how you peel almonds easily
The almond core is doubly protected. First, it is surrounded by a hard shell and then covered with dark, quite firm skin. However, you don’t have to pull out a knife to peel the almonds. It’s also much easier and less dangerous.
- If you have whole almonds, you can crack open the shell with a nutcracker.
- To do this, place the almond in the opening with the seam across and crack open the outer shell.
- The easiest way to peel the skin off the seeds is to soak them.
- Place the almonds in a heatproof bowl and boil water.
- Pour the hot water over the seeds and let it work for a few minutes.
- Drain the almonds in a sieve and then briefly run cold water over them to cool them down.
- The skin comes off best when the almonds are still hot.
- Take the kernels between your thumb and forefinger and push the almonds out of the skin.
- To avoid soaked fingers, you can wear disposable gloves.
- If you have large quantities of almonds to process, put them in a kitchen towel after quenching.
- Fold the cloth together and rub the almonds vigorously in it.
- You may have to remove smaller pieces of skin from individual cores by hand.
