Pickled Christmas oranges

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 oranges
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 125 ml orange liqueur, alternatively rum, white
  • 400 ml water
  • Cinnamon powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 day 1 hour

Goes great with chocolate mousse or vanilla ice cream.

Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan and simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until a slightly thick syrup forms. Finally, season with cinnamon to taste. Let cool slightly. Peel the oranges so that even the white pith is no longer visible. Then fillet each orange segment, cutting between the skins to remove the orange segment. Now add the oranges and liqueur to the syrup, stir, and refrigerate overnight. This goes perfectly with chocolate mousse or vanilla ice cream.
