The breed comes from Dresden-Pillnitz and has been commercially available since 1985. She comes from the crossing of Helios and Apollo.

Storage

The Piros apple variety has very similar properties to Delba/Apollo. Piros is ready to be picked by mid-August and can only be stored for a few weeks. Piros is one of those apple varieties that are best eaten after purchase and not kept. The best conditions for a short storage time are found in the fruit and vegetable compartment in the refrigerator. So if you don’t eat the apples right away, put them in the fridge right away. In this way, aroma, consistency, and freshness are retained for at least a few weeks.
