The perfect poppy seeds and yeast plaits tradition for easter recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 1 kg Spelled flour
- 1 packet Dry yeast
- 100 g Sugar
- 100 g Butter
- 1 tbsp Salt
- 1 packet Poppy seed baking
- 530 ml Milk
- 1 Pc. Egg.
- Mix the flour, yeast, sugar and salt well. The yeast plait is without an egg.
- Warm the milk slightly, melt the butter in it.
- Slowly add to the yeast dough while kneading, then knead well and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 175C.
- Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- When the yeast dough has risen for an hour, knead again briefly.
- I made two parts of it.
- Pull two strands from a ball of dough once with a little flour. I covered the strands with poppy seeds and twisted them into each other (see photo)
- The other ball of dough use the same technique only nature. I like it with butter and jam for breakfast.
- The recipe also works with marzipan or nuts, whatever you want.
- Mix the egg with a fork and brush the yeast plaits with it. Please bake both trays in the preheated oven, depending on the oven, for 20-30 minutes.
- I still wanted marzipan, but then I decided on nothing. That’s why there is marzipan in the photo.
