Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 250 g matjes fillet(s), in oil
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 2 large potatoes, waxy
  • 3 eggs, hard-boiled
  • 7 balls of beetroot, from the jar
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Fish under the coat

Remove the herring fillet from the oil and cut into strips or cubes. Finely dice the onion. Boil the potatoes with their skins in a pot of water until tender, then cool, peel, and finely dice. Boil the eggs, peel, and dice them. Dice the beets (it’s best to wear rubber gloves, otherwise your fingers will get red). Layer all the ingredients on a plate: first the herring fillet, then the onion, potatoes, eggs, and beets, and finally cover with mayonnaise.
