Potato and cauliflower mash

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 350 g potatoes, peeled
  • 250 g cauliflower
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp cream
  • 1 onion(s), approx. 80 g
  • Salt and pepper, white
  • Nutmeg, freshly grated
  • Butter for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Dice the potatoes and finely chop the cauliflower. Add both to a pot of salted water, cover, and bring to a boil. Cook for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, peel and slice the onion. Melt the butter in a pan, then add the onion rings and fry over medium heat until golden brown. Season with salt and pepper. Remove the pot from the heat and discard the cooking water. Return the pot to the heat. Let the potatoes and cauliflower cool briefly. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and mash everything with a potato masher. Stir in the cream; you may need a little more to achieve the desired consistency. Season the potato and cauliflower mash with the spices and serve sprinkled with the roasted onions.
