inexpensive and fast, with conventional glasses
Wash the gooseberries. Remove the stems and blossom tips. Fill a jar a little more than three-quarters full with gooseberries. Add more or less sugar to taste. Fill with water to within 2 cm of the rim. Screw the lid on the jar and place it in a pot of boiling water. The water should reach about 3 cm below the lid. Place the lid on the pot and boil for 15 minutes. Some gooseberries may burst. I also preserve plums and pears this way. My preserved fruit keeps for at least a year. I use old applesauce or cherry jars as jars.
