Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 400 ml schnapps (clear grain)
- 400 ml Gin (Dry Gin)
- 300 g brown sugar
- 300 g sugar, white
- 5 orange(s), unsprayed
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest period approx. 3 days; Total time approx. 3 days 15 minutes
as a substitute for Cointreau with less alcohol
Peel the orange zest (or grate it, but this will make the liqueur a bit cloudy). Pour the Korn and gin, along with the zest (or zest), into a dark bottle (a wine bottle works well, but make sure you choose a liter bottle). Place the bottle with the mixture in a cool cupboard. Halve the zested oranges, place them in a bowl, and cover them completely with the mixed sugar. Cover the bowl and let stand for at least 2 days. During this time, a sweet syrup with an intense orange flavor will form at the bottom of the bowl. Strain the Korn, gin, and orange pulp mixture into the bottle and sweeten with the resulting syrup. If you like, you can of course add more orange sugar until the desired sweetness is reached.
