Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 5 large onions, red
  • 5 large olives, marinated in garlic
  • 100 g Gruyère, sliced
  • 125 g bacon, diced
  • e.g. olive oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

From the oven

Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat). Make star-shaped cuts in the onions, but do not cut all the way through. Tip: Place a wooden spoon to the right and left of the onion. Place the onions in a casserole dish and cook with the lid on for about 20 minutes, until the onions have opened. Slice the olives. Cut the cheese into strips. First add the bacon cubes, then the olive slices, and finally the cheese to and over the onions. Bake uncovered in the oven for another 10 minutes. Tip: If you’re vegetarian, omit the bacon and drizzle with a little olive oil. 5 onions = serves 5 people as a starter or 2 people as a main course.
