Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 6 herring fillets
  • 300 g sour cream
  • 100 g crème fraîche
  • 200 g yogurt
  • 90 g mayonnaise
  • 2 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 200 g apple (Jona Gold)
  • 200 g gherkins
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • pepper
  • some allspice

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 20 minutes

with herring

Combine the crème fraîche, sour cream, yogurt, and mayonnaise in a bowl. Add the sugar, allspice, and pepper and mix until smooth. Dice the gherkins, apples, and onions and stir in. Cut the herring (soaked in water first if necessary) into bite-sized pieces and fold in. Let the herring marinade sit for 2-4 hours and season again to taste. Serve with fried or boiled potatoes.
