Ingredients for 8 servings:
- 3 bags of rice
- 200 g meat sausage
- 2 small onions
- 1 bell pepper(s), red
- 2 class can/n mandarin(s), approx. 175 g drained weight each, optional
- 1 jar mayonnaise
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp curry powder
- 1 tbsp Chinese spice
- e.g. Tabasco, approx. 5 dashes
- Salt and cayenne pepper
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes
Cook the rice according to the package instructions. In the meantime, chop the onions, sausage, bell pepper, and mandarin oranges. Combine the mayonnaise and soy sauce in a bowl. Note: Please decide individually whether to use just 1 tablespoon of soy sauce or, as directed, 3 tablespoons. With 3 tablespoons, the salad takes on a slightly brown color, but we prefer it this way. If you use 1 tablespoon, add a little more salt later. Add the sausage, bell pepper, onions, and mandarin oranges to the mayo and soy sauce. Add the Chinese spice, curry spice, and Tabasco, if desired, and stir. Add the cooled rice. Then season to taste with salt, pepper, and the other spices. We prefer this salad a little spicier and love the spicy flavor of the soy and curry combined with the fruity mandarin oranges.
