Rocket – all information
There are a few things to consider when preparing the rocket and keeping it fresh:
- Remove the stems from the lettuce leaves before eating. This can contain a particularly large amount of nitrate.
- Nitrate can be found in many leaf salads, and in particularly high concentrations in arugula.
- If you take in too much nitrate through food, this can be harmful to your health. This is particularly true for infants and young children.
- In general, cut off the stems of the plant before eating. This is how you remove the part where most of the nitrate accumulates.
- Consume rocket salad within a few days. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days. In the meantime, wrap it in damp kitchen paper.
