Rooibos spiced tea

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 400 ml water
  • 4 cloves
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • 4 cinnamon blossoms
  • 1 star anise
  • ½ tonka bean(s)
  • 4 tsp rooibos tea

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Roughly crush all the spices in a mortar and pestle. Bring the water and all the spices to a boil in a small saucepan and simmer for 2 minutes. Pour the rooibos tea into a tea infuser and simmer in the pan for another 2 minutes. Remove the tea infuser and carefully strain the tea through a sieve. Serve the tea in a cup. Sweeten to taste with honey or rock candy.
