Ingredients for 2 servings:
- 200 g bread(s), stale
- 150 ml milk
- 100 ml white wine
- 80 g butter
- 3 eggs
- some cheese, for sprinkling
- some salt
- some pepper

Cut the bread into fairly small cubes. Take some of the butter and lightly grease a gratin dish with it. Melt the remaining butter, pour it over the bread cubes, mix, and let it rest for a while. In the meantime, preheat the oven to 200°C. Mix the milk, white wine, and eggs well in another bowl. Season generously with salt and pepper. Add everything to the bread cubes and mix well. Pour the mixture into the prepared dish, sprinkle generously with cheese, if desired, and bake in the oven for 35-45 minutes. Tip: If you like, you can replace the white wine with water or broth.
