Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 8 cranberries, dried
- 50 g butter
- Salt
- Pepper berries, pink
- 60 g pearl onions
- 1 small red bell pepper(s)
- 4 large loaves of bread (country bread), light
- 8 slice(s) country ham, hearty
- 200 g cheese, e.g. Milram cheese, Rügener or coastal cheese
- ½ bowl of cress
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes
First, finely chop the cranberries and mix with the butter. Season to taste with salt and crushed pink peppercorns, then halve the pearl onions. Trim, deseed, and slice the bell pepper. Spread the cranberry butter on the country bread, then top each slice with two slices of ham, pearl onions, and strips of bell pepper. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Place two slices of cheese on each slice of bread and bake in the oven for about five minutes. Serve warm with cress.
