Semolina casserole with apples

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 700 g apples
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 eggs
  • 100 g butter, soft
  • 100 g sugar
  • ½ lemon(s), untreated, 1 tsp zest
  • 175 g semolina
  • 175 g sour cream
  • 175 ml milk
  • 2 tbsp almonds, chopped
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar
  • Fat for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Wash, peel, core, quarter, and thinly slice the apples. Drizzle with lemon juice and place in a greased casserole dish. Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan-assisted oven). Separate the eggs. Beat the egg yolks with butter, sugar, and lemon zest until creamy. Stir in the semolina, sour cream, and milk. Beat the egg whites until stiff and carefully fold into the egg yolk mixture. Spread the mixture over the apples. Bake the casserole in the oven (middle rack) for about 50-60 minutes until golden brown. Serve sprinkled with almonds and cinnamon sugar.
