Spread the love

Is a coffee liqueur with an alcohol content of 21.5 percent, no cream, no best-before date, open for several years, still safe to drink?

Liqueurs and other spirits with an alcohol content of more than 30% vol. can even be kept open for decades. For products with about 20% vol. it can be years provided there is no milk, cream or eggs in it and the sugar content is high. Sugar provides preservation. Therefore, alcoholic beverages from 10% vol. no expiration date either. However, the taste or aroma can suffer over time. Best try it. If it tastes good, it’s still edible. After opening it years ago, don’t keep it for too long.

Tip for storage:

Spirits, whether open or closed, are best stored in a cool, dry place, upright and protected from light and heat.
