Shichimi Togarashi spice mix

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 tbsp nori sheet, broken into small pieces
  • 2 tbsp orange zest
  • 2 tbsp mixed black/white sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp Szechuan pepper
  • 4 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Also available as a ready-made mix – but homemade always tastes better

Mix all ingredients together dry. If some ingredients are too coarse to blend, grind the spice mixture into a fine mortar.
