Sesame rings – Turkish or Greek yeast pastry

Make a yeast dough from the ingredients and let it rise in a warm place. Divide the dough into 6-8 pieces (depending on the desired size), shape them into ropes, and join the ends to form rings. Mix the grape syrup with the water in a deep, sufficiently large container. There are different types of pekmez; if it isn’t already quite runny, add a little more water. Place the rings, one at a time, in the grape syrup bath. They should be completely covered. Then immediately coat them in sesame seeds and place them on a baking sheet, stretching them into shape if necessary. Let the rings rest for about 15 minutes, then bake at 180-200°C for about 20-30 minutes.
