Simple vanilla sauce a la Gabi

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 ml milk, cold
  • 40 g powdered sugar
  • ¼ vanilla pod(s)
  • 20 g cornstarch
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Set aside 1 tablespoon of milk. Slowly bring the remaining milk and sugar to a boil, stirring occasionally. Split the vanilla pod lengthwise, scrape out the seeds, and add it to the milk. Mix the cornstarch with the remaining milk until smooth, add to the boiling milk, and bring to a boil briefly. Remove the sauce from the heat. Remove the vanilla pod and stir in the egg yolk. Allow the sauce to cool, stirring occasionally. Tip: Goes well with yeast pastries or pancakes.
