Sloppy Joe

Spread the love

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 400 g minced beef
  • 500 ml tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 small bell peppers or 1 large red
  • 2 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • salt and pepper
  • possibly chili
  • n. B. Oil for frying
  • 6 hamburger buns

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Dice the bell peppers and onions (approx. 0.5 cm). Finely chop the garlic. Heat the oil in a large pan or saucepan until very hot. Add the onions and ground beef and fry until crumbly. Add the bell peppers, garlic, and chili (if desired), then reduce the heat. After a few minutes, deglaze with the passata and season with brown sugar, salt, pepper, and vinegar. Reduce the sauce over low heat until very thick. Cut the hamburger buns open and toast them in a pan without fat over medium heat (inside down). Then spoon a little of the sauce onto one half of the bun, place the other half on top, and serve. Don’t forget the napkins! Extremely messy food (sloppy, in fact), but very tasty!
