Soaking Almonds: Here’s Why You Should Do It

Soaking almonds – these are the benefits

Almonds are healthy. However, you only release the vitamins and minerals it contains when you soak it.

  • Soaked almonds are easier to digest. The shell, which is otherwise difficult to digest, becomes more digestible. There is no unpleasant feeling of fullness after consumption. In addition, if necessary, the skin can be peeled off more easily from the almond if the kernel has been soaked in water beforehand.
  • The enzyme inhibitors present in almonds retain nutrients for seed growth. This blocks the absorption of nutrients. By soaking, you release these healthy ingredients. Your body will then benefit from it.
  • When consumed, it contains high-quality protein, as well as healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. The almonds also provide vitamin E, vitamin B2, manganese, magnesium, and fiber.
  • Almonds strengthen the immune system and are good for metabolism. The contained antioxidants ensure a young complexion. According to studies, the seeds can lower cholesterol levels and protect against diabetes.
  • In addition, the taste becomes more intense through watering. This brings out the sweetness of the fruit and the aroma better.

Soak the almond kernels – preferably overnight

Soaking the almonds is very easy.

  1. Put the almonds in a glass. Fill it up with twice the amount of water.
  2. Then soak the almond kernels in water for at least six hours. Eight hours is ideal. It is therefore advisable to leave the almonds overnight.
  3. Drain almonds. Then you can snack on them, for example, for baking or in muesli. Making your own almond milk is another option.
