Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 200 g rice (long grain rice)
- 600 ml water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 75 g raisins
- 20 g butter
- 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
- 1 tsp lemon zest, finely grated
Instructions
Working time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 5 minutes
Yellow Rice
Combine everything in a saucepan and simmer, covered, over low heat for 20 minutes. Before serving, remove the cinnamon stick and fluff the mixture slightly with a fork. It’s usually served with bobotie, but it’s also delicious with other meat dishes with plenty of sauce or gravy.
