Ingredients

  • 1 pack Mixture for spelled patties, alternatively green spelled, 225 g
  • 1 bunch Parsely
  • 2 Onion
  • 1 Clove of garlic
  • 6 tbsp Olive or sunflower oil
  • 1 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 can Chunky tomatoes
  • 200 ml Vegetable broth
  • 1 tbsp Pesto Rosso
  • 1 pinch Chili powder
  • Salt pepper
  • 400 g Spaghetti

Instructions

  • Let the ready-mix for the spelled patties soak in hot water (approx. 250 ml) for approx. 15 minutes. Finely chop the parsley and stir in.
  • For the tomato sauce, finely chop the onions and garlic. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a saucepan and sweat both in it. Briefly toast the tomato paste in it, then pour in the chopped tomatoes and vegetable stock. Bring to the boil and then simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes. Stir in the pesto and season with salt, pepper and chili powder. (You can also leave out the pesto, if you like).
  • In the meantime, cook the spaghetti in salted boiling water according to the instructions on the packet.
  • For the spelled balls, heat the remaining oil in a pan. Form small balls (diameter approx. 4 cm) out of the cereal mixture with wet hands. Fry all around for a few minutes in the pan over medium heat.
  • Drain the spaghetti. Puree the tomato sauce as you like ... I left it chunky and refined it with a little milk. Put the spelled balls in the sauce and let them steep for a moment. Serve with the spaghetti. If you like, sprinkle some freshly grated Parmesan on top.
