Spicy chicken from the charcoal grill

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 servings of skinned chicken
  • 4 garlic cloves, peeled, crushed
  • 1 tsp chili pepper(s), red, dried, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ lemon(s), the juice
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • ½ lemon(s), cut into wedges, for garnishing

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 4 hours; Total time approx. 4 hours 20 minutes

Chicken alla Diavola

Cut the chicken into pieces of a suitable size and score them several times. Crush the garlic cloves and chili peppers in a mortar and pestle, then add the salt. Add the lemon juice and olive oil and stir until well blended. Pour the marinade over the chicken pieces and rub in well with your hands (I like to use disposable gloves for this). Marinate for at least 4 hours. Place the chicken pieces on a well-preheated and oiled grill rack. Then grill on the hot grill for about 15 minutes per side, brushing them occasionally with the butter mixed with the remaining marinade. Tip: Alternatively, you can also use an electric grill; if it’s well heated, the food will take the same amount of time to grill.
