Spicy Cottage Pie

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 1 ½ kg potatoes, floury
  • 1 bunch of soup vegetables
  • 2 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 kg minced beef
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp vegetable broth, granulated
  • 300 ml milk
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • ¼ liter of water

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Peel, wash, and chop the potatoes. Cook in salted water for about 20 minutes until tender. In the meantime, trim, peel, and wash the vegetables. Slice the carrots and finely dice the remaining vegetables. Peel and finely chop the onions and garlic. Fry the minced meat in a large pan in hot oil until crumbly. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Add the onions, garlic, and vegetables and fry. Sauté the tomato paste. Deglaze with 1/4 liter of water and bring to a boil. Stir in the granulated stock and simmer for 8-10 minutes, then season to taste. Drain and mash the potatoes. Stir the milk and butter into the potatoes. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Place the minced meat in a greased casserole dish. Spread the mashed potatoes on top. Bake in the oven at 200°C (fan oven: 170°C) for about 20 minutes.
