  • 400 ml water
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • possibly cornstarch

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 20 minutes

Wash and roughly chop the tomatoes. Peel and roughly chop the onions and garlic. Place all ingredients except the cornstarch in a saucepan and add 200ml of water. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 20 minutes. Pour the ingredients through a sieve and press down well. Boil the remaining liquid from the sieve in a saucepan with the remaining 200ml of water for another 10 minutes. Pour the liquid back through a sieve into the ketchup. The ketchup can now be reduced by simmering for about 2 hours, or thickened with cornstarch. Pour the hot ketchup into sterile jars or bottles.
