Spicy pear compote

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g pear(s)
  • 50 g sugar or honey
  • 1 orange(s), juice
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 2 cloves
  • some nutmeg, freshly grated
  • 250 ml water
  • 1 shot of Grand Marnier and/or pear brandy

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Quarter, core, peel, and cut the pears into smaller pieces or wedges. Bring the water, orange juice, sugar, or honey, and spices to a boil until a broth is formed. Simmer the pears for 5-10 minutes, until soft but not falling apart. Place the pears on dessert plates. Strain the broth and season with Grand Marnier and/or pear brandy. Pour over the pears and refrigerate until ready to serve.
