Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 slice(s) bacon, fresh streaky
  • 2 onions
  • some salt and pepper
  • 8 m.-sized potatoes
  • some milk
  • 50 g butter,
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Cut the pork belly into strips. If you don’t like fat, trim some of it, but don’t throw it away. Render it and use it with the cracklings as a spread or as fat for the pan. Fry the pork belly strips in a pan until crispy. Then fry the onions and season with salt and pepper. Meanwhile, boil the potatoes. Mash them with milk and butter until smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Serve with sauerkraut or other cabbage.
