Sponge cake without eggs: You need these ingredients
Spontaneous visit, it’s Sunday and you don’t have any eggs at home to bake a quick cake? No problem, with just a few ingredients you have a quick sponge cake:
- 150 grams of softened butter or margarine, for a vegan recipe
- 170 grams of sugar
- 250 grams of wheat flour
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 200 milliliters milk or plant milk
- Some powdered sugar to sprinkle on top
- You can also use egg substitutes for your favorite recipe. In this recipe, the baking powder replaces the eggs.
Sponge cake without eggs: how to prepare it
For the preparation, you need a hand mixer and a Gugelhupf or other baking pan.
- Preheat your oven to 180 degrees.
- Cream the butter or margarine with the sugar.
- Mix the flour with the baking powder and add it to the butter mixture alternately with the milk.
- Fill the dough into the pre-greased baking pan and bake for about 40 minutes, depending on the type of oven.
- Allow your cake to cool for about 10 minutes before turning out. Sprinkle the icing sugar over the cake before serving.
