Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 kg strawberries (frozen)

  • 1 lemon(s), the juice
  • ½ pack of vanilla flavoring or the pulp of one pod
  • 500 g gelling sugar (2:1)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 4 minutes; Total time approx. 19 minutes

super delicious homemade strawberry jam with a twist

Thaw the strawberries (you can, of course, use fresh ones if they’re in season), heat them in a saucepan, and puree. Add the sugar, vanilla, and lemon juice. Crush the poppy seeds slightly in a mortar and pestle and add them to the strawberries. Add the gelling sugar and let it simmer for at least 3 minutes. Test the setting time and pour the hot jam into sterile jars. This jam is my own creation and a variation on regular strawberry jam, for those who want something a little more exotic. Of course, you can adjust the sweetness yourself by adjusting the sugar content; add more or less sugar to suit your taste (although I find the jam very sweet with this amount of sugar). I also made the jam in the fall/winter, so I used frozen strawberries, but the taste isn’t noticeable.
