Superfood Smoothies And Co As A Beauty Booster: Drink Yourself Up!

They are on everyone’s lips in the truest sense of the word: We are talking about superfoods. Prepared as a drink, the food with the extra portion of nutrients is a treat for the palate and is a real treat for body and soul.

What is a superfood?

From avocados to goji berries to chia seeds: superfoods are as diverse as their effects on our bodies. They cannot replace a healthy and balanced diet, but they can supplement it in a sensible way. Because one thing is undisputed: Superfoods contain healthy active ingredients that can help to improve the complexion.

In addition to the high content of nutrients, the foods offer another advantage: They can be easily prepared into drinks. Whether for a healthy start to the day or as a drink for in between and on the go. We will show you which superfood smoothies and teas you can use to add more variety to your diet and do something good for your skin at the same time.

(Green) superfood smoothies

Convenient, portable, and nutritious, green smoothies are an ideal meal to add a concentrated nutrient boost to your diet. The mixed drink made from fruit and green leafy vegetables, lettuce leaves, or wild herbs can be combined with an almost infinite number of ingredients. We have selected three easy-to-prepare superfood smoothies for you.

Banana smoothie

Meat, dairy, bread – regular consumption of these acidic foods can throw our body’s acid-base balance out of balance. In addition to tiredness, lack of drive, loss of appetite, muscle and joint problems, hyperacidity can also lead to skin problems. The complexion is prone to pallor and imperfections. Time to detox!

In addition to the temporary renunciation of acidifiers, alkaline foods should be part of the menu during your detox cure. The good old banana is right at the top of the charts of alkaline food stars. The yellow energy supplier is not an all-encompassing home remedy for pimples and impure skin, but it supports the body in ridding your skin of pollutants and making it look clearer and more radiant. We have the right recipe for a green superfood smoothie: Try our kale smoothie and let the combination of kale and banana convince you.

Berry smoothie

Our skin is constantly exposed to external influences: UV radiation, exhaust fumes or environmental toxins can affect our skin’s cell metabolism. In this way, highly reactive oxygen compounds can form as an intermediate product – so-called free radicals. What sounds cute, however, leads to oxidative stress, which damages cells and can cause the skin to age faster.

What is supposed to help against free radicals is a chemical compound called an antioxidant. These counteract the oxidation process. Antioxidants occur naturally in phytochemicals. The pigments in berries are among the antioxidants. Our mix tip for the drink: a delicious berry smoothie.

Avocado smoothie

Does your face show thin scales, red spots or rough cheeks? One cause of this could be a lack of fluids, which causes the skin to contract like parchment, crack and become inflamed.

Among the superfoods, the avocado is considered an effective moisturizer. Avocados contain almost 20 different vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and fiber. These include vitamins E, B6 and D as well as potassium. The fat in the avocado consists almost exclusively of healthy, unsaturated fatty acids, all of which the body cannot produce on its own. So we have to get them from food. Another reason why you should reach for the avocado. So that the green avocado smoothie tastes particularly delicious, you should add a few dates and spinach to the mixed drink.

Superfood teas

Chia Seed Tea: Keep Free Radicals at Bay

Like berries, chia seeds contain antioxidants that scavenge free radicals and can help protect skin from the inside out. So that the chia seed tea tastes like something, lemon and honey are added to the drink.

Preparation: Soak the chia seeds in half a glass of water for an hour. In the meantime, you can squeeze the lemon and pour the juice into a glass of water (300 ml). Then mix the soaked chia seeds with the lemon water and some honey and put them in the blender!

Matcha tea: Asian elixir with a thousand-year tradition

Matcha originated in China in the 6th century, from where it was brought to Japan in 1191 and has been an integral part of the Japanese tea ceremony ever since. The bright green superfood powder has long since made its way to us – and not just for reasons of taste. Matcha is an extract from the whole, fresh tea leaf. This means: the proportion of beneficial ingredients such as antioxidants and vitamins is many times higher than in ordinary green tea.

But how do you make matcha tea? Very simple: First, put one gram of matcha tea powder and a small amount of cold water in a bowl and stir everything into a smooth cream or thin paste. As soon as small lumps form, pour in about 70 ml of hot, but not boiling, water and whip the mixture until fluffy. The traditional Matcha tea is ready, as it has been enjoyed in the Far East for centuries.

Combined with warm oat milk or cow’s milk, it becomes a trendy drink: the matcha latte.

Beetroot tea: Beetroot is said to protect against cell damage and inflammation
Betanin – that’s the name of the red plant pigment from the beet, which has a strong antioxidant and anticancer effect and is supposed to protect against cell damage and inflammation. An important contribution to tightening the skin. Important: So that the ingredients of the beetroot can develop their full effect, you should store the tubers as cool and dark as possible.

And this is how you prepare the tea: Boil 300 g of fresh beetroot until soft. Then let the beets cool down before peeling them. Put the beetroot in the blender together with the juice of half a lemon, a bunch of parsley, and a glass of green tea. The vitamin-rich tea tastes even fresher with a few ice cubes. With this in mind: enjoy it!
