Sweet Apple and Spelled Waffles
The perfect sweet apple and spelled waffles recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 6 full tbsp Applesauce
- 50 up to 100 g Icing sugar (amount depending on taste and intended use)
- 100 g Butter or margarine
- 1 generous pinch Salt
- 0,5 tsp Gingerbread spice or cinnamon (optional)
- 250 g Spelled flour (I had 150g 630 + 100g 1050)
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 125 ml Mineral water (carbonated is the secret)
- Mix the applesauce with powdered sugar, salt and spices.
- Melt the butter but do not let it get hot.
- Now beat the applesauce mixture with the butter vigorously until the mixture is fluffy.
- Mix the flour and baking powder and sift.
- Gradually stir alternately flour and some mineral water into the dough.
- The dough should be homogeneous and soft, not too runny.
- Preheat the waffle iron and when it is hot enough (when the lamp goes out) brush the plates with a little oil or melted butter and pour 3 full tablespoons of batter on top. Quickly close the waffle iron and hold it down briefly (4-5 seconds).
- Bake the waffles until they are golden brown and separate well from the waffle iron.
- Let cool down briefly on a wire rack and serve with ingredients of your choice (powdered sugar, cream, jam; chocolate cream …).
- The waffles are initially soft, then they get crispy when they cool down and when you put them in a closed box they get nice and soft again.
- Taste warm and cold.
