Sweet tomato sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 3 tbsp butter or margarine
  • some flour
  • ½ tube(s) tomato paste
  • 500 ml water
  • 3 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Family recipe, best with spaghetti

First, make a roux. Melt butter or margarine in a saucepan and sizzle gently. Add flour and stir quickly. Stir in enough flour until you have a slightly crumbly mixture. Now add a little water and stir quickly to prevent lumps. Repeat until you have used about 400-500 ml of water. If the sauce is too watery, simply bring it to a boil, and it should thicken again. Add tomato paste, stir, and season with about 1 teaspoon of sugar and 2-3 teaspoons of salt. The recipe, at least for me, is a matter of taste. The final sauce should be thick and slightly sweet, but still taste of tomatoes.
