Tomato – basil – sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 onion(s), chopped
  • 2 stalk(s) celery, chopped
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 can/n tomatoes, pureed (425 g each)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • salt and pepper
  • ½ pot basil, fresh

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Heat the oil in a pan. Add the chopped onion, celery, and carrots. Sauté for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add the tomatoes and sugar, and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat significantly, and simmer for 20 minutes. Then blend the sauce in a food processor or blender until smooth. Wash and tear the basil, and add it to the sauce. Gnocchi are a perfect side dish. Pasta or potatoes also taste good.
