Tomato sauce with basil

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 550 g tomatoes, peeled, pitted, diced
  • 125 ml olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 handful of basil, picked leaves
  • 3 tbsp oregano
  • 450 g pasta (conchiglie, shell-shaped pasta)
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Combine tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, basil, and oregano in a large bowl and season well with salt and pepper. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let stand at room temperature for at least 30 minutes. Cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente. Drain thoroughly and add to the tomato mixture. Mix everything well and serve immediately.
