Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 400 ml water
  • 200 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 200 g sugar
  • 200 ml milk
  • 200 ml oil
  • 200 g flour
  • 200 g semolina (durum wheat semolina)
  • 200 g poppy seeds
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • some margarine for the mold
  • some flour, for the mold
  • ½ liter cream
  • 3 packs of cream stiffener
  • 1 pack of desiccated coconut

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Poppy seed cake that melts in your mouth

First, prepare the syrup. Place the water, sugar, and vanilla sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Let it cool thoroughly. Dough: Beat the eggs and sugar until frothy. Add the milk, oil, sifted flour, durum wheat semolina, poppy seeds, and baking powder and mix together. Grease a baking tray with margarine and dust with flour. Pour the dough onto the tray and bake at 200 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes. Let the cake cool until just lukewarm, then pour the cold syrup over it. Once cold, whip the cream with the cream stiffener until stiff and spread it on the cake. Finally, sprinkle the desiccated coconut over the cream.
