The fact that turmeric is healthy is mainly due to two ingredients. The essential oils contained in connection with curcumin make the saffron root not only a spice but also a remedy.
What makes turmeric so healthy
Turmeric (saffron root) has several health properties.
- The main property of curcumin is its anti-inflammatory effects. However, the curcumin content of turmeric powder is too low to be effective. Curcumin extract is significantly more effective.
- Curcumin is also known for its antioxidant effects. This means that the active ingredient can fight so-called free radicals. These are aggressive oxygen compounds that can damage your skin.
- In combination, the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects also protect against heart disease. Studies also show that curcumin can prevent certain brain diseases, such as dementia.
- Last but not least, turmeric, as a relative of healthy ginger, makes many dishes more digestible and prevents flatulence or indigestion.
Saffron root against cancer – that’s behind it
The anti-inflammatory property of curcumin is not only said to help with arthritis or other inflammations in the body.
- Turmeric is now used to help fight cancer. For example, a study has shown that curcumin impedes blood flow to the tumor. The result is that cancer can no longer grow well.
- In order to achieve an effect, high doses of curcumin are administered.
- However, the positive property of curcumin in cancer has not yet been sufficiently researched to be able to make a final judgment on it.
