Crackers – The basic recipe

Crackers are perfect for dips and as a snack between meals. With this basic recipe, you can quickly and easily bake your own crackers.

  1. Ingredients: 150 grams of spelled or wheat flour, 40 grams of cold butter, 70 milliliters of milk, and a little salt.
  2. Preparation: First, preheat your oven to 220 °C top and bottom heat.
  3. Then put the flour and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Add the cold butter cut into small pieces and the milk.
  4. Then knead all the ingredients into an even dough.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface as thinly as possible. Use a cutter wheel to cut out the crackers.
  6. Then place the crackers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and sprinkle with salt and other spices of your choice.
  7. The crackers need to bake in the oven for about eight minutes. When done they will be light golden brown.

Delicious rosemary sea salt crackers

The rosemary sea salt crackers have a special taste and are easy to bake yourself. In addition, they are vegan because you use olive oil instead of butter.

  1. Ingredients: 180 grams of flour, 120 milliliters of water, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 2 tablespoons of fresh rosemary, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and 1 teaspoon of sea salt.
  2. Preparation: Here, too, first preheat the oven to 220 °C top and bottom heat.
  3. Finely chop the rosemary and mix in a bowl with flour, sugar, and salt.
  4. Then add the olive oil and water and stir in the liquids. Knead all the ingredients together until a dough forms.
  5. Now roll out the dough as smooth and thin as possible on a floured surface and cut out your crackers.
  6. Then place the crackers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush with water. Then sprinkle the crackers with some sea salt and rosemary.
  7. The crackers need to bake for about 14 to 20 minutes. Check the color of the crackers from time to time. They’re done when they’re lightly golden brown.

Sesame crackers for snacking

Just like the rosemary variant, the sesame crackers are vegan and easy to prepare.

  1. Ingredients: 200 grams flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, 100 grams sesame seeds, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 1/2 tablespoons tahini, and 100 milliliters water.
  2. Preparation: First, preheat your oven to 200 °C for circulating air.
  3. Put the dry ingredients in a bowl. This includes flour, baking powder, sesame seeds, and salt. Stir well.
  4. Add the water, olive oil, and tahini and knead into a smooth dough.
  5. Then roll out this dough on a surface that you have previously dusted with flour.
  6. Now cut or punch out your crackers and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  7. The crackers now have to bake for about 15 minutes. When they’re golden brown, they’re done.
