Knead the flour, sugar, and cold margarine into a smooth dough. Form the dough into a ball and refrigerate it for 1-2 hours. Line the bottom of a greased springform pan with just over half of the dough, leaving 1-2 cm of space around the edges. Spread the applesauce over the bottom. Roll out the remaining dough and cut it into 1-cm-wide strips, then arrange it in a lattice over the applesauce. Bake the cake at 200°C for about 60 minutes.
