Vegan Cream: How to Prepare It

Buy vegan cream

Vegans or those who are lactose intolerant no longer have to do without cream for baking or cooking. There are a few alternatives that you can now fall back on. You can use the vegetable cream just as easily as the classic one. With proper cooling, the vegan alternatives can also be whipped up really well. The vegan cream varieties are based on conventional milk substitute products. Which cream you want to use is ultimately a matter of taste.

  • Matching the conventional soy milk, the soy cream is a tasteless cream. A true all-around talent, which can be used in any way.
  • The oat cream offers you a light nutty taste, which makes this alternative especially good for cooking.
  • The coconut cream gives your dish a special touch because it offers a fluffy treat that you can use as whipped cream for the cake.
  • Another alternative is rice cream, which is often runnier and lighter than any other cream substitute. However, the rice cream is less suitable for whipping.
  • Note: The finished plant-based cream products may contain carrageenan. This additive causes the cream to remain mostly runny and unsuitable for whipping. Although carrageenan is not harmful to health, people with sensitive stomachs should stay away from it.

Make vegan cream

You can also avoid additives by simply making your own vegan cream yourself. You can try vegan cream with soaked nuts and water or with any plant-based milk. A homemade plant-based cream with coconut milk works particularly well.

  1. All you need is a can of coconut milk, some agave syrup, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Depending on your preference, you can refine your cream with cinnamon or other spices. A hand mixer is also required, which you will later use to whip the cream.
  2. The can of coconut milk should be as cold as possible. Put the can in the fridge at least one night in advance. The bowl used should also be cold.
  3. Invert the can of coconut milk so the liquid is on top and the fat is on the bottom. You can either pour the coconut water away or alternatively use it for smoothies.
  4. Now mix the remaining ingredients with the coconut milk and then beat them on the highest level for at least 3 minutes. You can already enjoy the finished vegan cream.
