Vegan spelt scones with oat milk

Spread the love

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 250 g spelt flour, half type 630, half type 1050
  • 1 tbsp cream of tartar baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp cane sugar
  • 125 ml oat milk (oat drink) + some for spreading
  • 80 g margarine, room temperature, purely vegetable

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (top/bottom heat). Combine the flour with the cream of tartar, salt, and cane sugar. Add the vegan margarine flakes and the oat milk. Briefly knead with a tablespoon, pastry blender, or dough hook until a soft dough forms. Lightly flour the dough, shape into a circle (about 18-20 cm in diameter), and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Divide the circle into eight pieces and pull them apart slightly. Brush the scones with a little oat milk and bake in the hot oven for about 12-15 minutes, until lightly browned. Let them cool completely, or eat them warm for the best results!
