Cola: ingredients at a glance
Many beverage manufacturers also have cola soda in their portfolio. The main difference lies in the aroma, which varies slightly with each cola drink. 100 ml of classic Coca-Cola has 10.6 g of sugar per 100 ml. This corresponds to around 46% of the recommended daily amount of sugar according to the World Health Organization (WHO). However, sugar is not responsible for all of the flavor, dark color, or bubbles. These come from other ingredients:
- water
- carbonic acid
- Natural Flavors: Lime, Orange, Lemon, Coriander, Neroli, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Vanilla
- caffeine
- Ammonium sulfite color (E 150d): This dye is used for the intense black color of cola.
- Phosphoric acid (E388): This form of phosphoric acid is an acidifier that contributes to the typical cola taste.
- Optional: sweeteners as an alternative to sugar for certain cola variants (Coke Zero).
